sock hop for dance camp...or not?

how cute are some of the socks these day??

brooke and her friends always have the cutest or most different socks on.

this time they wore them for a dance camp fundraiser called "sock hop"

150 of their friends (by word of mouth) showed up to dance the night away so that brooke and her dance team can go to dance camp this year in july.

i went last year with the girls and it was so much fun. wish i could go this year again.

i apologize these photos are a wee bit small, but being the good mother that i am i went to this with the kids and hubby without my camera. so chuck snapped a few with his phone and well this is what we got. but it was fun and loud...very loud.

i've tried this recipe for slopply joes and i will be trying it again and again and again. it's that good! that is probably why it is found on the tasty kitchen website, yes?

the lake and the weekend....

two years ago there was no water in this part of the lake. it had dried up and filled with plants, trees, and weeds. last year it began to get water in it but no boats or ski crafts were still allowed.
and this year....well we have more and more water and the other day i saw boats cruising around in it. which means its getting deeper and deeper and soon my jet ski will be able to coast through the waters here. when i first moved here we use to camp around this sign "leave only your footprints please" and you use to be able to swim to this sign, climb on it, and jump off into the cool water. so as you can see we are inching our way to it again. oh boy, oh boy can't wait!

don't know that their cousins are coming to do some more of this.
they will be excited. tired but excited.

chuck's niece ashley is very good behind the camera. i have been very impressed with some of her work. i'm actually kind of jealous that i can't take pictures like her or see the things she can. great ideas and young mother of two gorgeous kids, i believe she could do really well for her family in making this a career.

a week with no kids...just me and the husband

my kiddos left this afternoon for camp maranatha

they will be gone until Saturday morning until i have to go get them

remember church camps and how unexcited you were as a kid but then when you

finally got there you had so much fun your dreaded coming home.

i hope that is the experience my kids have this weekend.

lots of water, lots of fun, lots of new friends

we were at our good friends house last night for cards and he says to my son

"Brady, no kissing on the girls at camp"

and my son says

"i can't promise anything"

this is not only funny because it comes out of the mouth of a 11 year old

but also that it comes from my son's mouth.

brady is quiet, shy and just kinda goes with the flow

so when he said this it made us all bust a gut.

maybe with the quietness around the house i can get some much need house work done!
